41 weeks pregnant
Pregnancy is supposed to last 40 weeks. It says so in all of the books!
To a woman who has put up with swollen legs, cankles, headaches, nausea, sleeplessness, braxton hicks contractions, back aches, mood swings and (..... insert any number of uncomfortable pregnancy ailments here!) for nine months, being in your 41st week of pregnancy is like running a marathon, only to get to the finish line and have the line moved another 50km down the road
Or telling a small child on Christmas morning that Christmas has been rescheduled this year
Or boarding a plane to Tahiti, only to land in the middle of the desert!
If this was a democracy, I would write a letter
maybe start a petition
or a rally
But I am merciless to the demands of my body and it's little passenger (who seems to have a mind of her own this week) and it seems that no amount of coaxing, jumping up and down or castor oil is going to get her out
I have resigned myself to the fact that I may well be pregnant forever
